Where to go Map of Jamaica - What does the word "Jamaica" mean?

A guide to the Island of Jamaica

Map of Jamaica - Where is your favourite place?

Heres a question we are always asked;"What does the word "Jamaica" mean?

Jamaica is a flower (Hibiscus) that is dried and then tea is made from it. The tea is served cold (as an agua fresca or in Spanish "Fresh water").

In English, it would be Hibiscus tea, but the beverage itself is also known as "Jamaica".

If I was to ask you to name somewhere on the island of Jamaica, where would it be? I bet Kingston would be in the top 3 as would Montego Bay not surprisengly as both are the subject of many films, books and songs and are synonamous with Jamaica.

Jamaica has so many great places and with names that are unforgetable; Umbrella Point, Black River, Alligator Pond, Bog Walk,  and I think children of the seventies in the UK won´t have let Grange Hill go unoticed. While the Spanish influence is there with Ocho Rios (Eight Rivers) Santa Cruz and of course Spanish Town amongst many other locations.
