What makes a perfect holiday? For some people it is the four ‘S’s Sun, Sea, Sand and er…forgot what the fourth ‘S’ is but no matter, to others the perfect Caribbean holiday would be an isolated spot with nothing but the sea, sand and shade, peace and quiet, just watching the sun rise and the sun set.

You can get all sorts of services (I really didn’t mean that as a tennis pun..Really, I didn’t) like hitting partners (That’s someone who hits the ball back to you, not someone you assault!) ball boys, tennis pro’s and all sorts of helpful and useful things. Golf: I know that there are millions of people who love the game of golf and their whole holiday is based around knocking the hell out of a little white ball. No problem. Designed by none other than Ralph Plummer, the Tryall Golf Club is an 18 hole extravaganza that would gladden the heart of any golf enthusiast.

Lest we forget, what about the Kids? No problem! At Tryall Club we have a Tryall Kids Club, where the little sweethearts can play all day in perfect safety and with lots of things to do whilst supervised by our dedicated staff, Meet and Greet, Hula Hoop and Limbo dancing contests, sand castle building, Pirate Treasure Hunt, Bird watching and feeding and all sorts of sports and silliness. Children from 5 to 12 although toddlers and teenagers are also welcome.

Some things in life do suprise me, some things shock and others just bore the pants off me. One of the more suprising things is that Alice Cooper, Iggy Pop and other teenage idols are very keen on "Sky..sky...sky..grass!" y'know, that game where you spend the day dressed in clothes you would not normally be seen dead in..Golf! (For those Bloggites who are not familiar with the phrase "Sky,sky,sky...Grass!" it is Jeremy Clarkson's take on televised golf because that is all the punters could see.)

David Cassidy is another pop idol, not an idol of mine you understand, but pop idol all the same, who likes to spend the day dressed in plus fours bashing his balls all over the green and pleasant lands. OK, If you have read some of my previous postings, you will know that I touched on the subject of Golf, Golf holidays, Golf villas and of course..Golfers! I don´t play golf, I don´t have the time or the inclination to dress up like Mr Cadbury's Parrot and whack my balls around all day long with different sticks.

Mark Twain once described golf as " A good walk...ruined!"

But hey! let's be fair, it is a very popular game (Grass..sky..sky..grass!) and is watched on the telly and also attracts crowds in their dozens. I suppose one has to be fair or at least, seem to be fair, when writing about holiday activities in Jamaica, no matter how daft the pastime or sport may seem to the writer. So, here goes.

Golf! Just like Jeremy Clarkson, I neither play nor understand golf! As Jezza explains "When you see golf on the telly, it's grass..sky, sky,sky...grass!" He might have added it´s also the most amazing display of fashion crimes known to man, come on now, Plus Fours!!! Theres also the snobbery of the golf clubhouse, or that is the way it is portrayed on the telly.

No matter, Golf courses and Golf Clubs in Jamaica.

There are more than enough golf clubs and courses in Jamaica to keep the most rabid of golfers happy. Let's just highlight the Tryall Golf Club which is in Sandy Bay, Hanover, Montego Bay.

Tryall Golf Club is brilliant and just like other golf clubs and courses around the world, it has everything the golfer needs, such as 18 holes with flags in them, long grassy bits, short grassy bits, holes with sand in them, some ponds and clubhouse and of course beautiful blue and green sky..grass...sky,sky,sky...grass.
