Tortola - Holiday villas in the British Virgin Islands

Villa Diamante on the island of Tortola

You will have had time now to study the map I posted on my last blog to indicate where the island of Tortola is. We also should know that it is part of the British Virgin Island and is off the coast of Porta Rico. Good, I can now tell you about some of the great luxury villas My Luxury Villas has on the island.

I´ll start with Villa Diamante.

Villa Diamante is located at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac shaded by beautiful trees and scented bouganville flowers. Villa Diamante has been built in three pavilions separated by a spacious sun deck and refreshing large octagonal pool which looks out to Sir Francis Drake Channel and the U.S. Virgins beyond, Villa Diamante is a real poets hideaway.

As is the norm with my blog, I don´t like to write too much about the villas I feature as it detracts from the great presentation of the properties on the main My Luxury Villas website and in true Blogtropolis tradition, I have gone out of my way to supply you with a link to the pages and the photographs.

Linkypoo to Villa Diamante.

Tortola - The best holiday destination in the Caribbean

Tortola

I am not even going to ask if you know where Tortola is! You don't know, that's a fact, unless of course you are part of that fantastic villa rentals company of worldwide repute, yes, Jamaican Treasures.

Some of my Bloglimpers may have stumbled across this pearl in the Caribbean sea, others are as thick as a Whale milkshake, so, I have slapped a map up top of the blog to give you an idea of where Tortola is. It is of course, part of the British Virgin Islands. Tortola can be found floating in the Caribbean, between the Caribbean Sea and the North Atlantic Ocean, east of Puerto Rico
According to the American CIA (Central Intelligence Agency) Tortola is described thus;

First inhabited by Arawak and later by Carib Indians, the Virgin Islands were settled by the Dutch in 1648 and then annexed by the English in 1672. The islands were part of the British colony of the Leeward Islands from 1872-1960; they were granted autonomy in 1967. The economy is closely tied to the larger and more populous US Virgin Islands to the west; the US dollar is the legal currency.

I prefer the My Luxury Villas descriptions of Tortola, villa by villa. My Luxury Villas, sister site to Jamaican Treasures but still the same great company, they have 25 or more luxury holiday villas on the island of Tortola and yours truly will place several of these on this blog for you to drool over.

In the meantime, why not relax and take a look at the other 1200 luxury villa rentals on the My Luxury Villas Website http://www.myluxuryvillas.com/

Top 5 islands in the Caribbean - Saint Vincent & The Grenadines

Saint Vincent & The Grenadines

It's geography time again Blopoppers. This time I am happy to enlighten you to the joys of a luxury holiday in St Vincent and the Grenadines. Now, I know some of you are as thick as a shagpile carpet so I have supplied a map. I know, it is a local map and so it could be anywhere but take it from me that Saint Vincent & The Grenadines are a small group of Caribbean islands between the Caribbean Sea and North Atlantic Ocean, north of Trinidad and Tobago, 13 15 N, 61 12 W just in case you fancy sailing there.

If I was being simplistic, Saint Vincent & The Grenadines are a spit away from the coast of Venezuela. There you have it.

Now, your favourite villa rentals company has a lot of handsome luxury villas for rent in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. Oh yes!

Very nice..Saint Vincent & The Grenadines sunset

"Why should I go to Saint Vincent & The Grenadines?" I hear you ask, well, it has been voted one of the top 5 islands of the Caribbean by Travel and Leisure World's Best 2011 Awards. That's like getting a Brit or MOBO award for making a record. Pretty cool. The reason it is pretty cool is that Travel and Leisure magazine have, for the past 16 years, published the "Worlds Best Awards" and to be placed so high is praise indeed.

Anyway. Jamaican Treasures has a host of luxury villas available for you and I will be most happy to post some on here for you to browse through.

Looking through the SV & G (I'll shorten Saint Vincent & The Grenadines to SV&G to save myself some time, if that's OK with you?) government website I see there is a Blues festival there!! being a Blues man myself, this would be excellent. They also have, like Jamaica and the rest of the Caribbean, their own Carnival. Have a look at the site for yourself, it's a bit short on laughs but long on information. http://www.gov.vc/

Villa Destiny

I bet you lot who read this Blog (Yes! both of you!) think that I have an easy time of it, adding beautiful Jamaica Villas and describing to you how wonderful this place is and how you should vist Montego Bay or Discovery Bay and so on. Nothing could be further than the truth. I have a terrible time of things.

Imagine, you work for a company with a world famous reputation (Yes. Jamaican Treasures) and they have more than 1200 luxury vacation villas worldwide and over 300 villas in Jamaica alone. You have to describe each villa in it's own rite and find something different to say about each????

As it happens, they are all beautiful, they are all delightful and they all offer you luxury and fantastic locations. Some villas though stand out from the crowd and Villa Destiny is one of them.

Destiny villa was featured in the popular Island Home Magazine in the USA. "High in the hills overlooking Jamaica's beautiful Montego Bay, Destiny, with 10,000 feet of indoor-outdoor living space, is one of the finest private residences in the Caribbean." Island Home, writes Rob Sandler.

Destiny villa Montego Bay, has got to be one of the most outstanding and spectacular luxury vacation rental homes in Jamaica and is situated in a green tropical hillside with views to the Great River valleys, breath taking ocean and mountain views.

Yes. This property really is special and you can see for yourself is you follow this link to the villas own website. http://www.destinyvillajamaica.com/

This fantastic vacation rentals property is located in Jamaica's magnificent Ironshore Resort Estate at Montego Bay, Island Breeze Villa has a magnificent panoramic view of the Caribbean sea.

Located 15 minutes from the tourist mecca in Montego Bay, Jamaica, Island Breeze Villa has enviable views of the Caribbean and surrounding areas as well as being located in a truly wonderful setting of it's own. Jamaica Villas - Jamaican Spices

Guess what this stuff is?

It was with some great joy that I read the Jamaica Observer online to find out that everyones favourite spicey island (unless you MUST be different!) is going to get a bit more spice.
Yup! One of the essential ingredients in your favourite "Ruby Murray" (That's curry to you John!) is that "mellow yellow" stuff called Turmeric.
Turmeric is often used by dodgey restaurant owners who add it instead of Saffron when you roll into their restaurant after a few "Zombies" too many and order Pilau rice. Let's face it, I could never tell the difference until the next day when my shirt front was bright yellow and brown.

I digress. The Jamaican farmers are test planting Turmeric with the hindrance, sorry, help (not as if matey from the ministry is going to muck in and dig the soil up, is it?) of the Ministry of Agriculture's export division. You may not believe this but Turmeric actually grows wild in Jamaica, mainly in the western parishes but it's the first time anyone has had the idea to harvest the stuff to flog on the world markets.

Laugh if you like (I did) but Sylburn Thomas, a general manager of the division, reckons that Turmeric will be an alternative to those displaced by sugar. I bet it tastes lousy in coffee though?

So, if you notice Jamaica is turning a rather bright golden yellow colour and your Blue Mountain coffee tastes a bit "iffy" just check your not putting Turmeric in, instead of sugar. Heres the report in full, read it yourself Link
