Jamaica places of interest; Negril Beach and Villas Sur Mer

Annie Temple bahamas Property

Mr Bloggs was looking for a quiet spot to practice.

I have heard so much about the nightlife and bright lights of Montego Bay and all about the north coats tourist attractions and places like Dunne’s River Falls, James Bond Beach, Blue Lagoon, Kool Running, Dolphin Cove and all the usual suspects but I have a question; Where are the best places to visit in Negril?

Well, according to my friend Annie Temple from the Bahamas who is a regular visitor to Negril and stays at the Villas Sur Mer on the cliffs overlooking the Caribbean Sea, Annie Temple reckons the best thing to do is first, get to Negril and then explore the town for yourself as one persons taste is different to another’s. Sound advice.
Nonetheless, I would like to point out a few places that the staff of Villas Sur Mer in Negril recommend from their own local knowledge.

Negril is a small but widely dispersed beach resort town located across parts of two Jamaican parishes, Westmoreland and Hanover. Negril is just about one hour and fifteen minutes drive from Sir Donald Sangster International Airport, in Montego Bay.

Now Negril is not shy when it comes to nightlife and burning the candle at both ends, oh no! Places like One Love, Sexy Rexy’s bar, Margaritaville, Ricks CafĂ© and lots more places to go and hear live music and enjoy great food, there are also a great variety of beaches like Seven Mile Beach and Half Moon beach, Negril Cliffs and the beautiful Negril lighthouse. Ask the staff of Villas Sur Mer and they will be happy to point you to the best places in Negril. Enjoy your Vacation.

MEN VS WOMEN - Church cook-off - Food - Jamaica Gleaner - Thursday | December 1, 2011

MEN VS WOMEN - Church cook-off - Food - Jamaica Gleaner - Thursday December 1, 2011

Reverend Joseph regretted booking a wedding the same day as the Cook-off!
The St Andrew Church of Christ annual cook-off - men vs. women. It’s very nice to see that Jamaican men and woman are just as daft and competitive as everyone else. It sounds like war in the church hall, pots of jam at ten paces and see who can cozy up to the vicar to obtain them few extra points. Take a read, it’s a gas.

Levi Roots wins recipe row - Jamaican food

"Actually, old boy, the name is Keith!"
I do like to bring you interesting jamaica stories, no one wants to be thought of as a "one trick Pony" and harp on about the truly fantastic, amazing luxury villas that you can rent from Jamaican Treasures. No! I like to diversify.

Heres a great story from my favourite online newpaper The Jamaican Observer, all about a dude called Levi Roots (actual name is Keith Graham..not a very "Yardie" name!) who has defended a case brought against him by his ex-partner (business partner) from Brixton, London, who claims Keith, or "Roots" ripped off his recipe for some of the Jerk food mix listed in his "Reggae,Reggae Cook Book"

The judge decided in favour of Mr Roots. Read the article, it's very interesting.

The Best Bar in Jamaica

Lisa: Nose to the grindstone at the Pelican Bar

OK, I’m not one to grumble and moan, even when someone is having a much better time of it than I am. Oh no. But, there are limits.
I am sat wearing my wifes dressing gown (no! It was just the nearest thing and I was in a hurry…er..) and typing to a friend on Skype  who we are meeting later today for lunch, prior to watching Liverpool FC and Manchester City FC kick the snot out of each other in the premier league when “Ping!” I get a tap from Lisa, the lady who runs a world famous villa rentals company, you may have heard of it (unless you live in a cave) Jamaican Treasures, I may have mentioned this once or twice on this Blog.
Hard at it, another poor soul scratching a living.
Anyway, Lisa is in Jamaica just now and having a hell of a time, working apparently, or so she tells me. Lisa sent me some photographs of a truly amazing bar, I’ve seen nothing like it and I have seen some bars in my time (Ghana, Senegal, Belize, Germany, Cyprus, Barrow-in-Furness to mention a few places) it’s made out of sticks and palm leaves? Like the type of place one of the little Piggies would have built to keep the Wolf away.
I have decided that words alone could not describe this amazing stilt pub. It is Robinson Crusoe meets James Bond and from what Lisa tells me, the food is fantastic.
Take a look at this great Blog

Dunn'a River Falls, Ochos Rios, Jamaica

Dunn's River Falls, Ochos Rios, Jamaica

I thought I would give you a treat and bung some videos onto the Blog and so I have scoured Youtube for some decent videos of Jamaica and I came across this video for Dunn's River falls at Ochos Rios (Eight Rivers)

There isn't eight rivers at Ochos Rios, the name is a misnomer, a misinterpretation of the Spanish word "The Waterfalls" Las Chorreros by the British. This was the setting for a rather dodgey Tom Cruise film called "Cocktail" I don't know what was worse, Tom's acting as a cocktail barman cum Romeo/Gigalo or the florid shirts the director made him wear for the film.

Buy hey! here's people enjoying themselves in Jamaica, that's great to see. We also have a great villa here that I would like you to see.

Blue Shutters Villa - Runaway Bay, Jamaica

Blue Shutters, enough to send you off your rocker!

I'm continuing my update of the Jamaica luxury villas and one that really brings a smile to my face is Villa Blue Shutters at Runaway Bay. I think "Cute with class" is the best way to describe this 3 bedroom luxury villa that sits right on the waters edge at Runaway Bay.

Villa Blue Shutters has 1 acre of it's own grounds in which you can wander at your liesure, theres also a private beach cove as well. You are guaranteed peace and privacy here. Mind you, saying that, if it's an activity holiday your looking for then you have that here as well.

The Blue Shutters villa has everything you will need for a great holiday, air conditioning, dvd, Internet, splash pool, the Caribbean Sea to splash and paddle about in and of course a dedicated staff of cook, housekeeper and a caretaker to make sure things go nice and easy for you Jamaica holiday.

Villa Lido - Ochos Rios, Jamaica

Villa Lido, Discovery Bay, Jamaica

Carrying on from where I left off with villa Whispering Waters and Keela Wee, another fantastic villa in this range of luxury Jamaica villas is the beautiful Villa Lido at Ochos Rios, Jamaica.
As you would know if you are native to Jamaica or a reader of this Blog, Ochos Rios is close to the Dunn's River falls and that there aren't "Ochos Rios" or Eight Rivers, it is a misnomer of the original Spanish name "Las Chorreras". Never mind, we all make mistakes.

Villa Lido is a great Jamaica villa that was refurbished in 2002, boating 5 luxury bedrooms with 5 en-suite bathrooms and beautifully decorated. Villa Lido is also beachfront, with it's own pool, tennis court and a staff of cook, housekeeper, gardener, butler and a luandress.

A really fantastic property for a great Jamaica vacation. Please visit the main website for Villa Lido at Ochos Rios and see what you could be staying in on your next vacation in the Caribbean. Villa Lido Link.

Snorkeling in Jamaica

File:Stoplight-parrotfish.jpg
Stoplight Parrot Fish not to be mistaken with Akee & Saltfish

It's always good to have inside information, no matter that it is for horse racing, making a buck on Wall Street, or where the best place is to go snorkeling. Yes! where the best place to go snorkeling is. What's wrong with wanting to know that?
Listen, if you are a keen snorkel diver that last thing you want is to off willy-nilly to this beach and that in the hope that you will get a great diving spot. For god's sake, you could end up diving to explore a sewage pipe and spend the day wondering what all the strange looking fish are called.

Jamaica is a fantastic place for snorkel diving because it does not get battered by great big waves and has over 200 miles of coastline that is populated with the most exotic fish you could wish to see. Even so, if you know the very best spots then your stay in one of Jamaican Treasures fantastic villas will be all the better becasue you will get more diving hours in.

So, where is the best place to go snorkel diving in Jamaica?

Port Antonio, Montego Bay, Negril, Ocho Rios, Discovery bay and St. Elizabeth all offer daily trips to the coral reef for you to go diving but opinion is not devided when it comes to naming the number 1 spot and that is Doctor's Cave beach, Montego Bay. You can get kitted up from the local snorkeling centre and explore to your hearts content.

Those of you who are a bit more experienced than others may wish to venture further affield and visit the reefs at Coyoba, Seaworld and Royal Reefs but I would advise you take a guide or someone who is familiar with these areas, the old briney sea can be a bit rougher out on these reefs but I am assured by those who have seen a reef or two that these reefs are crowded with some of the best fish. Like Stoplight Parrot Fish, Barjacks, blue and brown Chromis, yellow-headed Wrasses and Akee Saltfish (Wha? Akee Saltfish?) Joke..a Joke.

The other great places for snorkel diving are off Negril, Runaway Bay, San San Beach Port Antionio and Treasure Beach, St. Elizabeth. There is a great site to visit for more information on Snorkeling in Jamaica and it's called Island Buzz.

Jamaica Visas

I've been mooching around my favourite website, the Jamaica Observer for interesting news items and I found a beauty. Some functionary by the name of Edmund Bartlett, the Tourism Minister, so he says, has come over all "Star Trek" by telling anyone who will listen that "Asia is our newest frontier!

To be fair to the bloke, he's doing a splendid job and is coming up with great ideas to improve tourism, not just to Jamaica but to the Caribbean as a whole. Eddie baby has suggested a plan to allow visitors from Asia to visit any of the Caribbean locations on a single visa, like they did for the cricket world cup 2007.

This, he hopes will improve travel between destinations for the tourist from the newly rich Asia economies, cutting down the red tape and making things a lot easier will, he hopes, encourage people to visit.

This is a bloody good idea and so far Bartlett said he has reached agreements in principle with the countries of Colombia and Mexico, and hopes to sign up Panama, the Dominican Republic and Cuba. Go for it Eddie!

This is an excellent article and one you should read, here, in true Jamaican Treasures fashion, is THE LINK!

"Yeah Mon, Jamaica!"

"Has Mr Blogspot gone mad?" That's what your probably thinking right now. I thought a little bit of discount might be mentioned, you know "10% discount on all holidays in Jamaica!" that sort of "special offer"

When I was told that you can stay for seven nights in a luxury villa but only pay for five nights, I had to double check with the peeps at JT just to make sure it wasn't last nights Rum and I wasn't still "circling the airport" so as to speak.

Jamaica Villas on Youtube

The beautiful Stephanie of Jamaican Treasures

I´m left in no doubt that you, my little blogmonsters, think I am a bit of a one trick pony being as I post these Blogs on a pretty regular basis, but I am not, I can diversify when the need takes me.

Today, for example, yours truly uploaded 7 new videos to his Youtube Chanel, not just Jamaica Villas but Anguilla and the Cayman Islands as well. If I say so myself, the videos I made are very good and I look forward to hearing your comments on them.

As you can see from the Youtube Video above, this one features one of the Jamaican Treasures staff, the wonderful Stephanie.

Another classic video.

Jamaica villas - Just Pinged my Blog with Weblogs.com

Ping!
I do like, from time to time, to pass on interesteing websites or bits of information that would help fellow Bloggers with their own blogs and I found a very good website a long time ago called Weblogs.com and it is a pinging tool.

What's a Pinging tool?

When we make changes to our Blog, website or feed we want the search engines to find it as quickly as possible, in which case, the best way is to send the information yourself. You do this in two ways.
  1. You go to Google / Yahoo! /MSN submit Url page and add your sites name, a codeword to prevent spam and click enter.
  2. You ping the information via XML-RPC signal (RPC = Remote Procedure Call) this tells the server that the url has had content updated.
http://weblogs.com/home.html This is the website you need to go to. It's easy to use and it is FREE. Enjoy.

Villa Destiny

I bet you lot who read this Blog (Yes! both of you!) think that I have an easy time of it, adding beautiful Jamaica Villas and describing to you how wonderful this place is and how you should vist Montego Bay or Discovery Bay and so on. Nothing could be further than the truth. I have a terrible time of things.

Imagine, you work for a company with a world famous reputation (Yes. Jamaican Treasures) and they have more than 1200 luxury vacation villas worldwide and over 300 villas in Jamaica alone. You have to describe each villa in it's own rite and find something different to say about each????

As it happens, they are all beautiful, they are all delightful and they all offer you luxury and fantastic locations. Some villas though stand out from the crowd and Villa Destiny is one of them.

Destiny villa was featured in the popular Island Home Magazine in the USA. "High in the hills overlooking Jamaica's beautiful Montego Bay, Destiny, with 10,000 feet of indoor-outdoor living space, is one of the finest private residences in the Caribbean." Island Home, writes Rob Sandler.

Destiny villa Montego Bay, has got to be one of the most outstanding and spectacular luxury vacation rental homes in Jamaica and is situated in a green tropical hillside with views to the Great River valleys, breath taking ocean and mountain views.

Yes. This property really is special and you can see for yourself is you follow this link to the villas own website. http://www.destinyvillajamaica.com/

St Martin villas - Beachfront villas

Villa Topaz 6, 15 seconds from the waters edge

I don´t know anyone who doesn't like to feel the sun on there face, stare at the sea, Jack Daniels in hand (or whatever is your own preferred poison) and wonder "I wonder if it's raining today in Grimsby?"

I know that I love to do just that, only with me, I wonder about Rhyl (It's in North Wales.) and as any of my regular Blogblimpers would tell you, I and mrs Blogspot have just had a week in a caravan on a "holiday park" in that jewel of the Welsh wastelands. How the long, cold, wet nights just flashed by.

Anyway people, I would like to brighten your lives up with this very nice posting about some beautiful villas on the Caribbean paradise that is the tropical island of St. Martin. It's nice, take my word for that.

The holiday rental properties in question are 15 seconds from the waters edge and that's close (Unless you are Usain Bolt then that's 150 yards.) Topaz 6 is part of Shore Pointe - A Beautiful and Elegant gated community seating on Cupecoy Beach, St Martin. You are also only 3 minutes drive from the best restaurant in town.

Topaz 6 has so much going for it that I will leave you to browse through the webpage and see for yourself what a great holiday location this really would make. The property has everything you need or want. Follow this link for full description and great photographs.

Jamaica Villas - Keela Wee Villa, Discovery Bay

Keela Wee Villa - Discovery Bay, Jamaica

What does Keela Wee mean? Buggered If I know, to be honest but in the best traditions of Blogoogling (that's rummaging through Google to find the answer to a Blog question.) I stumbled upon a website, as if by magic, of Elvish names, no! not a drunken fan of the late King of Rock'n'Roll but Elves from Tolkien's Lord of the Rings.

Acording to the Elves, Keela means "Beauty that only poetry can capture" wow! That gives you an idea of what is in store with this property. The "Wee" bit? Not sure, don't want to look that far. Take it as "Little" and we'll move on.

Anyway, Blogblimpers, this Discovery Bay villa is superb, 6 deluxe bedrooms, it's very own peaceful white sandy beach and swimming cove, private swimming pool, wet bar (that's a bar that's wet..it's at the end of a swimming pool) and much more besides, like Poolside BBQ, tennis court, kyaks, I could go on.

Guess what? Here's the link to the Keela Wee website
