Jamaica Villas from the top Jamaica villas rental agents in Jamaica

Personal Choice Jamaica Villas

Damn Cat! I told him we should have gone with http://www.personalchoicejamaica.com

I am often called upon to rant and rave about many things in life, most of them almost irrelevant but sometimes I do come up with some worthwhile gems of advice, especially when it comes to Vacations in the Caribbean islands and more to the point, vacations in Jamaica.
Jamaica is the most popular of all the Caribbean Islands, especially amongst the Europeans and North Americans who both seem to have a single mission in life and that is to find a place in the sunshine for their annual vacation or to have a romantic wedding reception, some choose Jamaica for a family reunion or other type of social or business function.
The problem a lot of people find is which villa or resort to choose and which particular Jamaica Villas company to go with? There are plenty of luxury Jamaica villas to go round but the truly exceptional villas are often taken before you have made up your mind. The owners of these luxury villas will sometimes use multiple agents to rent out their properties and so duplicate information with varying prices will do nothing but confuse people.

So, here is my useful bit of a advice; Please visit http://www.personalchoicejamaica.com this is a company who have all of the top luxury Jamaica villas, apartments and resorts in Jamaica and the Caribbean Islands. http://www.personalchoicejamaica.com have some fantastic bargains and offers that have been agreed with the owners of the properties so you know you are getting a really good deal for your Caribbean vacation. No fuss, no confusion and with the blessing of the Jamaica villas owners themselves

Hangover cures for Christmas and New Year

We've all been there!

HANGOVER CURES FOR POST CHRISTMAS HANGOVERS
OK, you went out last night and you had a drink or two. ‘Nelson’s Coat’ as we call it because there’s no (h)arm in it! When I say you had a “drink or two” we can take that to mean you drank the bar dry, or near enough. You went out on a mission to keep all the local bars and clubs in fine financial order by helping to reduce all that stock they had. Yep! You got P****d!
It’s now the morning after the night before. You wake up and you go through the same routine that all happy campers go through when they realize that they are still alive.
·     Where am I? (Who am I?)
If you are at your own home, hotel, villa or park bench then you wake up and ask the next question;

·     How did I get home?
You start to try and recollect the events of the night before, beginning with leaving the house / hotel / villa. You remember your first drink, then you remember you met a rather nice looking girl / bloke / not sure what? And telling them you are a multi millionaire on holiday but look like you do because you are ‘incognito’ You were asked “Would you like to come to a party?” you went and that’s where it gets a bit unclear.

You have woken up, not knowing where you have been, what you did, who you did it with and how you got home and you have a screaming headache and rumbling guts. You are the proud owner of what’s known as a ‘Hangover’

The symptoms of a hangover are like flu, there is no one specific ailment. Some people just feel a little queasy, others may have a mild headache and some need to get to the thunder box as soon as possible, you on the other hand, you have the hangover from hell!
How do I know this? Easy, everyone who has ever had a hangover feels the same way.
Is there a cure for this ailment? Some say yes, other say no, some say maybe. There are old wives remedies, there are lotions and potions galore and many a hard drinking sailor to advise you on what to eat or drink. Your nearest priest or Salvation Army captain will tell you the best cure is total abstention (what the hell do they know?)
One cure is supposed to be “hair of the Dog” that is, go straight back out and drink whatever it was you drank last night, this will make you feel much better. It does work because you feel a lot better and in some cases, you get flashbacks of the night before, however once that has worn off, you are back to square one. Hung over!
The pharmaceutical option is one favoured by ladies and strange men this is a bright looking over the counter package with a silly name like “Pukeopol”.  Fine, they may or may not ease the gut rumblings and the headache but beware aspirin and Tylenol is to be avoided; aspirin irritates the stomach while Tylenol can cause liver damage. Liver damage?  As if you haven’t already done the honours with that 1 liter bottle of  Captain Morgan’s and that odd smelling tobacco you had at the Pelican Bar last night.
Is there really a cure for your hangover? It would be nice to think there was, so, I have found you a wonderful website that will give you an insight into hangover cures. Enjoy. How to cure an Hangover link

Jobs in Jamaica - Rope holder to insane window cleaner

"Mek sure ya don start scratchin yer bum now!"

What’s the worst job you ever had? Mine was working on the railway tracks in Surrey, in England. The pay was poor; the job was very dangerous due to the very fast trains and the electric railway line. We worked all hours in all types of weather but we were happy.
No we bloody well were not! I came home covered in oil and gnat bites.
Mind you, there are worse jobs, by far, in other countries but you just can’t beat the really dumb jobs. Those mind – numbing, mundane, pointless waste of time jobs that exist all over the world, some born out of necessity, others just impromptu or quick fixes to local problems.
Take this couple of numb-skulls. Come on now, how desperate for work must you be to let someone dangle you out of a window many stories up whilst you replace a broken pane of glass? The glass was most likely broken by the window cleaner just before he fell, he was most likely also dangled from the same window (by the same guy, he looks like he is a regular at this type of work.)
Hey-ho! Anyone else got anything stupid to share

MEN VS WOMEN - Church cook-off - Food - Jamaica Gleaner - Thursday | December 1, 2011

MEN VS WOMEN - Church cook-off - Food - Jamaica Gleaner - Thursday December 1, 2011

Reverend Joseph regretted booking a wedding the same day as the Cook-off!
The St Andrew Church of Christ annual cook-off - men vs. women. It’s very nice to see that Jamaican men and woman are just as daft and competitive as everyone else. It sounds like war in the church hall, pots of jam at ten paces and see who can cozy up to the vicar to obtain them few extra points. Take a read, it’s a gas.

Levi Roots wins recipe row - Jamaican food

"Actually, old boy, the name is Keith!"
I do like to bring you interesting jamaica stories, no one wants to be thought of as a "one trick Pony" and harp on about the truly fantastic, amazing luxury villas that you can rent from Jamaican Treasures. No! I like to diversify.

Heres a great story from my favourite online newpaper The Jamaican Observer, all about a dude called Levi Roots (actual name is Keith Graham..not a very "Yardie" name!) who has defended a case brought against him by his ex-partner (business partner) from Brixton, London, who claims Keith, or "Roots" ripped off his recipe for some of the Jerk food mix listed in his "Reggae,Reggae Cook Book"

The judge decided in favour of Mr Roots. Read the article, it's very interesting.

Check out the amazing pizza and the little cutie presenting this little video. Mind you, Stephanie Scott rabbits on a bit but I guess she's just excited.
Theres no excuse for not knowing where to eat when you book one of Jamaican Treasures Villas.

The Best Bar in Jamaica

Lisa: Nose to the grindstone at the Pelican Bar

OK, I’m not one to grumble and moan, even when someone is having a much better time of it than I am. Oh no. But, there are limits.
I am sat wearing my wifes dressing gown (no! It was just the nearest thing and I was in a hurry…er..) and typing to a friend on Skype  who we are meeting later today for lunch, prior to watching Liverpool FC and Manchester City FC kick the snot out of each other in the premier league when “Ping!” I get a tap from Lisa, the lady who runs a world famous villa rentals company, you may have heard of it (unless you live in a cave) Jamaican Treasures, I may have mentioned this once or twice on this Blog.
Hard at it, another poor soul scratching a living.
Anyway, Lisa is in Jamaica just now and having a hell of a time, working apparently, or so she tells me. Lisa sent me some photographs of a truly amazing bar, I’ve seen nothing like it and I have seen some bars in my time (Ghana, Senegal, Belize, Germany, Cyprus, Barrow-in-Furness to mention a few places) it’s made out of sticks and palm leaves? Like the type of place one of the little Piggies would have built to keep the Wolf away.
I have decided that words alone could not describe this amazing stilt pub. It is Robinson Crusoe meets James Bond and from what Lisa tells me, the food is fantastic.
Take a look at this great Blog

Island Black Pearl Jamaica Nightclub

Island Black Pearl Nightclub

I was asked by a friend to find some nightclubs to go on this Jamaica Holidays Blog and so I set about finding some. There is a nightclub called The Island Black Pearl that looks pretty cool I would have ripped some off for you but they have them nailed on. The website has lots of happy snaps of beautiful girls and macho looking guys all out enjoying themselves.

Wish yu wuz ya?

If you read the "About Us" page you will be told the Island Black Pearl is a firm favourite with the tourists in and around Montego Bay, one of the main reasons is that the music is pretty cool, amd with a selection of the following Reggae, Dance music, Hip Hop, R&B, Pop music and Top 100 sounds, you are going to be dancing to at least some of the great sounds you like (Unless of course you are one of those very strange people that's into those two grottypopübermeisters Black Lace! in which case I don't think Jamaicans would stoop so low, even to please the tourists!)

Some very nice ladies having a great time at the Island Black Pearl

Now, the guys who run Island Black Pearl are boasting that this is the best nightclub in Jamaica and with it's three dance floors, including a roof top dance floor, it knocks every other place into a cocked hat.

Not just that, but there is some dude called DJ Laz from the radio station Power 96 who will be performing at least once each month. Island Black Pearl needs to be checked out then, and if anyone has any feedback for me, happy snaps etc, I will post them on here, nothing to raunchy though, someone might be reading this.

Island Black Pearl Nightclub is opened Wednesday to Saturday from 10:00pm to 3:00 am, and Happy Hour is every Thursdays and Fridays from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. Heres the website link again but I must warn you that there is some banging music going down so turn the speakers down!!! http://www.islandblackpearlnightclub.com/index.html

Island Black Pearl can be found at Ironshore in Montego Bay, just cup your ears and listen for the sounds and hopefully you won't hear this couple od Super Mulleted music monsters. BLACK LACE!!!

Villa Whispering Waters - Discovery Bay, Jamaica

"WHISPERING WATERS!" I can't hear a thing!

I don't suppose you will want an explanation for the name of this delux holiday villa situated at Discovery Bay. The villa has a wonderfully romantic name of "Whispering Waters" and is the sister villa to Keela Wee (Who's name is also romantic but you did needed an explanation to!).

Villa Whispering Waters, like Keela Wee is at Discovery Bay, between Rio Bueno and Ochos Rios. Whispering Waters was built in 2006 and has 7 bedrooms with 7 en-suite bathrooms, private beach, swimming pool, Jacuzzi, poolside BBQ, loungers, chairs and a staff of cook, housekeeper, butler, gardener and laundress, after all, we don't want you overdoing it now, do we? Your on vacation and when you get inside Whispering Waters you will realise that. It is beautiful.

The website for villas Whispering Waters has been updated with lots of links on the sites main page to all the photos, virtual tour and slideshow, this will save you having to go through the sites individual pages (Blimey, the site is already simple to use but here in Blogland, we like to make it soooo easy!)

In our finest tradition, we advise you to do yourself a great favour and visit this handsome villas website and see what you could be staying in on your next Jamaica Vacation. Whispering Waters link

If, like so many other happy campers, you have stayed at Whispering Waters, I would love to see some happy snaps of your visit and maybe a comment or two? Pleeeease! :-)

Snorkeling in Jamaica

File:Stoplight-parrotfish.jpg
Stoplight Parrot Fish not to be mistaken with Akee & Saltfish

It's always good to have inside information, no matter that it is for horse racing, making a buck on Wall Street, or where the best place is to go snorkeling. Yes! where the best place to go snorkeling is. What's wrong with wanting to know that?
Listen, if you are a keen snorkel diver that last thing you want is to off willy-nilly to this beach and that in the hope that you will get a great diving spot. For god's sake, you could end up diving to explore a sewage pipe and spend the day wondering what all the strange looking fish are called.

Jamaica is a fantastic place for snorkel diving because it does not get battered by great big waves and has over 200 miles of coastline that is populated with the most exotic fish you could wish to see. Even so, if you know the very best spots then your stay in one of Jamaican Treasures fantastic villas will be all the better becasue you will get more diving hours in.

So, where is the best place to go snorkel diving in Jamaica?

Port Antonio, Montego Bay, Negril, Ocho Rios, Discovery bay and St. Elizabeth all offer daily trips to the coral reef for you to go diving but opinion is not devided when it comes to naming the number 1 spot and that is Doctor's Cave beach, Montego Bay. You can get kitted up from the local snorkeling centre and explore to your hearts content.

Those of you who are a bit more experienced than others may wish to venture further affield and visit the reefs at Coyoba, Seaworld and Royal Reefs but I would advise you take a guide or someone who is familiar with these areas, the old briney sea can be a bit rougher out on these reefs but I am assured by those who have seen a reef or two that these reefs are crowded with some of the best fish. Like Stoplight Parrot Fish, Barjacks, blue and brown Chromis, yellow-headed Wrasses and Akee Saltfish (Wha? Akee Saltfish?) Joke..a Joke.

The other great places for snorkel diving are off Negril, Runaway Bay, San San Beach Port Antionio and Treasure Beach, St. Elizabeth. There is a great site to visit for more information on Snorkeling in Jamaica and it's called Island Buzz.

Jamaica villas - A game of Cat and Mouse

"Mi ganna git dat mouse fe him!"

"I hope that Pinky will be a really good mouser!" That's what I said to Mrs Blogspot when we decided to keep 3 of the last batch of kittens. Pink, Squeeky and Alfie.

OK, Pinky isn't pink, she's stripey but she has one pink toe or whatever a cats version of a toe is, so, we call her 'Pinky'. As you can from this photo taken a few minutes ago, she has either caught the techo rage from my good self or she is just plain thick.

I appreciate that we live in a techno age but come on! When I say "catch dat mouse!" I mean the little dude that keeps crapping in the plant pots.

Oh well, I wonder if Jamaican cats are as stupid as the Spanish ones?
