I have heard so much about the nightlife and bright lights of Montego Bay and all about the north coats tourist attractions and places like Dunne’s River Falls, James Bond Beach, Blue Lagoon, Kool Running, Dolphin Cove and all the usual suspects but I have a question; Where are the best places to visit in Negril?

 

Well, according to my friend Annie Temple from the Bahamas who is a regular visitor to Negril and stays at the Villas Sur Mer on the cliffs overlooking the Caribbean Sea, Annie Temple reckons the best thing to do is first, get to Negril and then explore the town for yourself as one persons taste is different to another’s. Sound advice.

Nonetheless, I would like to point out a few places that the staff of Villas Sur Mer in Negril recommend from their own local knowledge.

 

Negril is a small but widely dispersed beach resort town located across parts of two Jamaican parishes, Westmoreland and Hanover. Negril is just about one hour and fifteen minutes drive from Sir Donald Sangster International Airport, in Montego Bay.

 

Now Negril is not shy when it comes to nightlife and burning the candle at both ends, oh no! Places like One Love, Sexy Rexy’s bar, Margaritaville, Ricks Café and lots more places to go and hear live music and enjoy great food, there are also a great variety of beaches like Seven Mile Beach and Half Moon beach, Negril Cliffs and the beautiful Negril lighthouse. I thought I knew pretty much what there was to do on a Jamaica vacation with Villas Sur Mer but as it transpires, I don’t know half of it, this came as a bit of a surprise. I was flipping through the Internet, as one does, for informative websites from which visitors to Villas Sur Mer at Negril could glean information from to save them time once they got here and I came across a wonderful link which screamed out “492 things to do in Jamaica!”

Now, 492 things is a lot of things to do and I was interested to where my miserable list of 100 Jamaica attractions had fallen short but I need not have bothered as this site knocked my Jamaica list into a cocked hat. The website is part of the Trip Advisor sites, a sort of Wikipedia for travellers worldwide.

There are the usual suspects listed, such as Ocho Rios, Dunne’s River falls, Runaway Bay, Kingston, Port Antonio etc but here and there are buried little treasures that are well worth digging for, such as The Pelican Bar ( A bar built on stilts in the middle of the Caribbean Sea) Bob Marley Museum, Glass Bottom Boat tours, Reef Dives and lots more.

Jamaica Villas - Getting Married in Jamaica?



"Oh! what a big leaf you have there Mr Blogspot!"

Blimey! Now I know what they mean by a ‘blushing bride’ nine couples took to the beach resort at Negril, which, in case you don’t know is on the north coast of the Paradise island of Jamaica and about 1 hour from Montego Bay. They did take to the beach but they never took any clothes with them though, oh no! They were naked as the day they were born with the exception of the odd leaf or flower here and there.

The Hedonism 11 Resort invited 10 couples for an all expenses paid wedding ceremony, unfortunately, one of the couples bottled it and so they were left with nine naked couples, all participants in a documentary, all selected from a list of 100 applicants who were asked dodgy questions such as “why do you want to start their life together stark naked?” “It saves a mint in wedding dresses and suits” would have been my answer.

I do like to use my Jamaica Holidays Blog to provide readers with information on what to do when they get to one of our fantastic luxury villas and so I would like to point you at an interesting deep sea fishing website called "Stanley's Deep Sea Fishing" a website for sea fishing off Negril, Jamaica.

If, like me, you've ever done sea fishing you will know it´s really good fun, sometimes you can actually catch a fish or two, well, that's how I do it.

Stanley's site has some cracking happy snaps of anglers with their catch, some of them are most impressive, the fish that is, not the anglers. Stanley's does invite you to " Try your luck at catching Blue Marlin, Mahi, Wahoo (He's making these bloody names up now, I´m sure! and Tuna" we can also see whales, Dolphins and Turtles

The business is owned and run by Cap'n Stanley Carvalho, a salty old sea dog born and raised in Negril. take a look at Stanley's site for fishing in the Caribbean, I´m sure it will give you plenty to think about when you plan your next visit to Jamaica or the Caribbean. I was also looking at another website Ochos Rios Fishing Charters and Boats Rentals on World Wide Fishing and it look cool. according to the site, you are free to choose what you do on an Ochos Rios Fishing Charter, like visiting James Bond Beach (James won't be there, well, not James Bond) see the Dunn's River falls, go Snorkeling or just relax and let the world go by. heres the link to Ochos Rios Fishing Charters.
