I´ve been updating a lot of sub domains this week for different Jamaica villas that are available for rent all over the Island. One thing I noticed is that there were many references on our Jamaica villas websites to Montego Bay airport and then I realised I never had a link from the Jamaica Villas sites to the Blog, as far as Montego Bay Airport was concerned, so, in the spirit of Blogging, here's my little post on Montego Bay Airport.

I suppose one has to be fair or at least, seem to be fair, when writing about holiday activities in Jamaica, no matter how daft the pastime or sport may seem to the writer. So, here goes.

Golf! Just like Jeremy Clarkson, I neither play nor understand golf! As Jezza explains "When you see golf on the telly, it's grass..sky, sky,sky...grass!" He might have added it´s also the most amazing display of fashion crimes known to man, come on now, Plus Fours!!! Theres also the snobbery of the golf clubhouse, or that is the way it is portrayed on the telly.

No matter, Golf courses and Golf Clubs in Jamaica.

There are more than enough golf clubs and courses in Jamaica to keep the most rabid of golfers happy. Let's just highlight the Tryall Golf Club which is in Sandy Bay, Hanover, Montego Bay.

Tryall Golf Club is brilliant and just like other golf clubs and courses around the world, it has everything the golfer needs, such as 18 holes with flags in them, long grassy bits, short grassy bits, holes with sand in them, some ponds and clubhouse and of course beautiful blue and green sky..grass...sky,sky,sky...grass.

I do like to use my Jamaica Holidays Blog to provide readers with information on what to do when they get to one of our fantastic luxury villas and so I would like to point you at an interesting deep sea fishing website called "Stanley's Deep Sea Fishing" a website for sea fishing off Negril, Jamaica.

If, like me, you've ever done sea fishing you will know it´s really good fun, sometimes you can actually catch a fish or two, well, that's how I do it.

Stanley's site has some cracking happy snaps of anglers with their catch, some of them are most impressive, the fish that is, not the anglers. Stanley's does invite you to " Try your luck at catching Blue Marlin, Mahi, Wahoo (He's making these bloody names up now, I´m sure! and Tuna" we can also see whales, Dolphins and Turtles

The business is owned and run by Cap'n Stanley Carvalho, a salty old sea dog born and raised in Negril. take a look at Stanley's site for fishing in the Caribbean, I´m sure it will give you plenty to think about when you plan your next visit to Jamaica or the Caribbean. I was also looking at another website Ochos Rios Fishing Charters and Boats Rentals on World Wide Fishing and it look cool. according to the site, you are free to choose what you do on an Ochos Rios Fishing Charter, like visiting James Bond Beach (James won't be there, well, not James Bond) see the Dunn's River falls, go Snorkeling or just relax and let the world go by. heres the link to Ochos Rios Fishing Charters.

VILLAS IN THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC

 The Dominican Republic or the Republic of Dominicana, whatever way you like. I have very fond memories of a holiday to the Dominican Republic way back in the 1990's I went to a place called Juan Dolio on the Caribbean Sea side of the island, the other side being on the North Antlantic Ocean.

I, along with my better half, went on one of those all inclusive jobs to a site in Juan Dolio and really had a ball. The place it'self was a bit basic but it was clean and the staff were very polite and helpful.

We spent a lot of the time on the beach and because we had only 1 week to get a tan, we "made hay" whilst the sun shone.

On our first trip to the beach there were many vendors offering local souvenirs, hair braiding and such like. There was one guy, however, selling something I had never heard of before, these were called "Ouches!" on close inspection they turned out to be flip-flops!

Anyway, I didn´t want any as I had my own footwear with me. I was confused why they were called "Ouches!" as being a Spanish speaker, I didn´t know of any Spanish sounding word like "Ouches!" (pronounced "Ow-chez")

I decided to go for a dip in the Caribbean, noting that no Shark has ever attacked anyone in six inches of water, I reckoned I was safe from Jaws or any Great White that may have got lost by a few thousand miles.

No sooner had I stepped into the water, I stood on a lump of sharp coral as I did so, I let out the loudest shriek of pain you have ever heard "Ouch!"

Having now realised the significance in their name, I purchased two pair of "Ouches!" from the grinning footware vendor there and then. Lesson learned.

Thailand! Just the name envokes pictures of exotic ladies, beautiful buildings and spicey food. It wasn´t always called Thailand but then, I´m sure you don´t need me to tell you that, you know it was called Siam, you must have seen the film with Deborah Kerr and Yul Brynner, The King and I it was called, all about this bald bloke and some mad school teacher. Anyway, it was called Siam then, not Thailand.

It will also not come as any suprise to readers of this Blog that everyones favourite luxury holiday villas rentals company has a list of fantastic luxury properties available for rent, not just for vacations but also for Thailand weddings, honeymoons and family reunions. Yes, were very versatiloe in that respect.

The Thai villa I have chosen to highlight in this blog entry is Villa Arawan in Phuket, Thailand. Now, depending on where you come from and how you spell "Arawan, Erawan etc" the name describes an Elephant God who's responsible for rain clouds. I´m a Spanish speaking Brit who lives in Andalucia, Spain, in the mountains above Malaga and I have long wanted to visit Mexico but for some reason I never have got there, the nearest I managed was the Dominican Republic for a week, some years ago. It's strange the way we put things off.

Never mind. Puerta Vallarta, Mexico; Outside of Mexico City and Taquilla it is the most popular Mexican location with American and European tourists and it is also a great place to visit. The city is named after governer Jalisco, Ignacio Vallarta.

You will be suprised to know (er...or not suprised, if you are a regular on this Blog) that Jamaican Treasures and My Luxury Villas, their sister site have both got oodles of luxury villas and apartments in Puerta Vallarta and other parts of Mexico. Jamaica - A truly Colourful place

I know I have been chuntering on a bit about our Jamaica Villas but what do you expect from a bloke who works for the best luxury villa rentals company in the world? I couldn´t very well talk about horses or growing leeks, nor would you like me to.

I do try to vary the Jamaica villas blog by adding things about Bali, Mexico, Thailand and the other exotic locations we have properties in and I also like to encourage you (yes! YOU!) the blog reader to participate by sending me your happy snaps of your holidays, your weddings, the bar you run, the hotel you say at and anythin else you consider would be of interest to someone looking for information on Jamaica, Bahamas, Caribbean, Mexico et al.

I love happy snaps, people enjoying themselves on holiday and peeps getting married or drunk (or married and drunk) I am also a bit of a culture vulture and I like nothing better than photographs of churches, monuments, statues and other interesting items that give you an insight to the people who built and live in the towns and cities you visit.

If anyone reading has any good shots and cares to send them to me with a little description, I´d be happy to add them to this Jamaica Blog. It all helps to keep the world informed.

There have always been people, I´m not one of them, that like a little bit of seclusion, quietness, to be at one with nature, you catch my drift? Of course you do, your not thick. People like the beautiful Greta "I vant to be Alorn!" Garbo to Howard Hughes, they all want the place to themself for a bit of P&Q.

At Jamaican Treasures we are happy to tell you that we have just the very place at Silver Sands, Jamaica and it's called Duke's Hideaway. Heres what we have to say on our website at My Luxury Villas.

Duke's Hideaway is a lovely beachside cottage with 3 charming bedrooms. All bedrooms are air-conditioned for your comfort and also has ceiling fans. This villa belongs to the gated community of Silver Sands, and has the use of the Silver Sands tennis court and club house. You will be very comfortable here in the Duke's Hideaway. Her Majestesty the Queen and her Husband The Duke of Edinburgh visit the island and stayed at Silver Sands, the two cottages were named Duke's Cottage and the next one Queen's Cottage, thus, Duke's Hideaway.

Now I don't think everyone knows where Silver Sands is so I will bung the map on again so you can see exactly where you will be staying when you book this wonderful villa. Look, here it is Below.
